Why do some people call it soccer? - Holy Kaw!

Is it soccer or football? Much of the world refers to the game currently in the spotlight at the FIFA World Cup as football, but Americans (along with Canadians, Australians, and South Africans) call the game soccer. Well, it’s not like the sports version of the metric system debate, if that’s what you were thinking.
