Turns out NOM NOM NOM = threats our national security.
At least according to a new Washington Post editorial by John Shalikashvili and Hugh Shelton, two former chairmen of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff who argue that obesity jeopardizes the future strength of our military and puts our country in danger. They report that number of recruits who fail their physical exams has increased by nearly 70 percent in the last 15 years. "We consider this problem so serious from a national security perspective that we have joined more than 130 other retired generals, admirals and senior military leaders in calling on Congress to pass new child nutrition legislation," they write.
